Researches show a cervical screening test using a self-collected sample is just as accurate at detecting HPV as a clinician-collected sample during a pelvic examination.

Women who have sexual intercourse should do the screening test at 25 years old and women who never have sexual intercourse should do the screening test at 30 years old.
Current research indicates that the protection conferred by the HPV vaccine is long-lasting. If you already got full HPV vaccination, you do not need to take it again.
It is important for women to be screened regularly, every 2 years for Pap test, and every 5 years for HPV DNA test.
It is very important for women aged 25-65 years to receive cervical cancer screening, even if they were previously vaccinated against HPV.
An abnormal screening test result does not necessarily mean that a woman has cancer. Most often it means that she has pre-cancer, or early changes that could become cancer in many years if not treated. Very rarely a woman is found to have signs of cervical cancer at the time of screening.
